I absolutely love your App... There is definitely one thing I think it's missing, though. I'm using the app as a way to keep track of gifts and stuff that I'm making for charity. I would love a way to have the program output a a word file that has all the notes, logs, and photos, like a knitting scrapbook! I think this would be a great way for users to be able to see past projects they no longer have in their posession.
Also, a way to setup a blog that the app could post to would be pretty nifty as well, that way readers could see our progress as we go--- maybe a co-op between Quilt2Go and Ravelry? |

reported by solslett in the forums:
I just downloaded the app today and am really looking forward to using it quite a bit. I was disappointed to see that a key feature was not included - yardage.
Under yarn - the dyelot is only important when you are looking to acquire more yarn. When you are matching yarn to a pattern, yardage, weight and gauge are your key requirements. If the notes were visible from the category pages, this would solve the problem.
Under Patterns - again, if Notes were visible from the main page, it would be useful. However, as is the Yarn Category, yardage is very important, as are gauge and weight. Size would be the next item worth recording. Example: I have a Cable Sweater Pattern. Under the listings, I see the name of the pattern, the type of article and the source. Size, such as M-XL for a man's extra large sweater would be great. Knowing that the pattern calls for an aran weight with S X R gauge and 2400 yards would be ideal. But without at least yardage, it's not that helpful. |

I believe it would be great if we would be able to add ounces and how many skeins or balls if a specific yarn wash in my stash as I pick up multiple skeins when they r on sale and it would be very helpful to know on the app so I do not need to sort through the plastic boxes I keep them in. Itwould save the serious knitter time |

switching sections using tab bar does not save edited items |
when adding or editing items, if the user switches sections of the program using the tab bar, the edits are lost. |
1. Create a new pattern (or, presumably, yarn, needle, or project)
2. Enter item details.
3. Switch to another section of the app using the tab bar.
result: edited item is not saved.
expected result: save edited item or pop up dialog asking to save or cancel. another alternative would be to save on exit. |

In 2.0, you have to press an Edit button to go into editing mode, and changes aren't saved until you press the Done button. You can still switch between tabs while editing, but the paradigm for saving with the done key means that you don't expect changes to be saved when switching. |

view colorway on yarn list |
love KnitMinder and use it quite often (portability is a plus). It would be very helpful if the name of the colorway was listed with the yarn info on the main Yarn screen. Like most knitters I have a TON of yarn so taking or obtaining pictures of each skein is not high on my list of things to do and the small color square in the corner of the default picture is to small to notice and often not the most acurate representation. Being able to see the colorway name would eliminate the need to click on each individual yarn's details to find out what I actually have in my stash. Thank you |

combination pattern guide and row/stitch counter |
The thing I would love to see added is combination pattern guide and row counter/stitch counter.
For example: The screen would show the stitches for row 1 (ex: k1, *p1, k9, p1, k1*) and a row counter to show row 1. If the pattern had a 12 row repeat, after row 12 the instructions would roll back to Row 1 but the row counter would show row 13.
Ideally I would love to see the ability to do lace projects which have different stitch patterns for beginning/set up rows, body, borders, etc. Also calculate the number of stitches at the end of a row with increases (like in a triangular shawl).
I would also love to be able to add this info in Word or Excel and not directly into the iphone.
Am I dreaming? Just not possible? |

I should have gotten around to exporting my data from my iPhone to my pc because I just accidentally deleted an entire project with all my detailed notes - crap! :( So I have a suggestion for the next upgrade. Can you add a trash folder where deleted files go so that they can be retrieved if deleted in error? |

missing crochet hook sizes |
I'm sorry I forgot to include this in my previous question. It is very related to my previous question. I have hooks M (9.0 mm), N (10.0 mm), P (11.5 mm), Q (16 mm) and S (19 mm). The choices on the app for M and N are okay, but the choice for P is P/Q at 15 mm. Not 11.5 mm. And there is no choice for Q at 16 mm. |

Project Photos Keep Disappearing |
My project photos keep disappearing from the project list. They are in the logbook, but won't show up on the project list. Occasionally, to get the photos to appear again, I'll remove the old photo from the logbook, re-select the photo, and it'll be fine for awhile. Then, for no reason, the photo will disappear again. What is happening?
Thank you

Hi Lynn -
It sounds like you are using KnitMinder Lite, the free version of the application which only allows a limited number of projects, yarns, and needles. See http://www.quilt2go.com/faq#11n59 [^] for a list of limits. The idea is that you try out the program for free before purchasing it for the unlimited space. |

I have your KnitMinder app for my iPhone, and it is generally lovely. What would be awesome is the ability to name my counters if I need to. I have an afghan pattern that calls for 3 different patterns to be knit across each row (A, B, C). I am using 3 counters in KnitMinder to track this - but would love it if I could name the respective counters "A", "B" and "C". There seems to be sufficient field space to the left of each counter to permit a name to be inserted. I do appreciate the ability to name each counter with your pre-sets: Rows Completed, Pattern Row, etc. But above that, in some cases it would also be nice to be able to further distinguish the counters. Thanks for considering this suggestion. |

Is it possible to edit the names of the counters you can choose from? I can think of several counters that would be useful to track such as armhole decreases at the same time you are tracking v neck decreases. Also I like to track the number of stitches and be able to increment as I increase/decrease. This would work if I could edit the names of the counters instead of trying to remember which one I might be using for the purpose. Is there an options in settings where I can do that? Thanks much. Otherwise enjoying the app. Started with stitchminder and just added knitminder so i can track multiple projects. I think Knit Counter allowed me to do this, but I like you log features. |

Knit minder is great, but it would be truly fantastic if you could rename the counters.
As an example, I’m doing a project at the moment that has an overall row counter, plus a counter each for a lace panel, two different cables and a decrease row. Being able to call the different counters “lace panel”, “small cable”, whatever, would be really, really handy. Having the counters linked would be truly magnificent. |

Thanks for submitting this issue. There was a problem in KnitMinder 1.4.0 where any use of the camera would crash the application, but this was fixed in 1.4.1. I see that you entered "1.4.1" as the version number, but I mention this because your problem seems specific to the camera.
Your iPhone or iPod touch keeps a log whenever an application crashes. These crash logs would be very helpful in diagnosing the exact issue that is going on. If possible, please follow the instructions at http://www.quilt2go.com/content/beta-tester-instructions#crash_logs [^] to locate the logs and attach them to this issue report.
Thanks again! |

tap on project link icon should open the project |
I do like the idea of knowing when the needles are already in use for a project. For those of us with more than one project going it will help us know the needles are in use, or where are needles are if tapping on the sweater icon could take us to the project. If you were to build in the ability to indicate multiple pairs of needles in one entry you would have to consider how the sweater icon would work. |

When viewing needles or yarn that are currently linked to a project, there should be an easy way to find out which project they're linked to (e.g. click something and it takes you to the project, or just have the project name listed as well). This would be especially helpful for people like me who may have way too many projects on the needles all at one time, but needs to figure out where a specific set of needles has gone because you need them for something else for a few minutes or to lend to someone (especially if the project is hibernating) etc... |

Just a suggestion: in the needles section, I know it shows that the needle is in use, but I think it would be really handy if it would tell you which project you are using them with. I find that I have to search my projects to find the in-use needle, it would be great if when you clicked on the needle size there would be a field that said which project it was on. |

pattern notes section is too small and difficult to navigate |
I agree about the pattern notes section being too small and difficult to navigate. For simple things, I would like to paste the pattern in here, and be able to switch between pattern and counter easily. This would mean that the notes section would have to stay on the same view so I wouldn't have to scroll every time. |

add section for measurements |
I recently got an iPod touch, and am very excited about replacing my Palm with it. One of the Palm programs I used to use was Knitable by Nancy's KnitKnacks. I'm trying out KnitMinder right now as a replacement, but one feature Knitable had that I don't see in KnitMinder yet is a measurements section. This is a section where I can keep notes about measurements for the people I commonly knit for (husband, daughter, friends). It was the part of Knitable that I most used, and I just wanted to suggest it for future KnitMinder updates. |

Here's the "biggie": I just finished a project and my needles are still associated with the project. I don't want to delete the needles from the project as I want to remember I used size 2 needles. But I do want to remove the project association icon from the needles so I know that those needles are available for use. Make sense? It would be great if this happened automagically when changing project status to "finished" although I think a manual option might still be needed as I might want to put a project on stitch holders to "steal" the needles for something else. |

no way to clear purchase date |
Firstly, the "Purchase Date" field in the Project, Needle and Pattern section.
Once I accidentally touch that field, there is no way for me to leave it blank. At least I can't find a way to do that.
I might have items that were not purchased, but given by others, even so, I might not remember the date that I actually acquired that items. I think there should have a choice for us to leave blank, or make it a text field so we could write whatever we want, for example gifts from grandma etc. |

I actually really appreciate the icon by the needles and by the yarn showing it is in use (now I know where they went!). But, now i'm done and the needles went back in the drawer. How can I remove the icon but delete the needles from the project. Don't want to, so it'd be great if this was automatic to remove the icon but not the product in the project. |

counters |
I am having trouble with the counters. I am working on a scarf and increase rows frequently. about every 3 to 5 times that i increase with the counter it decreases instead. now I am working at the end of a scarf from 108 rows and decreasing and it will then increase instead of decreasing. I am trying (at least I think I am) very precisely touching the screen, trying to to move my finger in any way other than just a tap. Anyone else having this problem? |

reported by Cheri via email:
I love this app but I have one problem that is driving me crazy. When I am using the row counter, more often then not, when I touch to add a row it subtracts a row. This is very annoying and frustrating especially whe I am using multiple counters (for pattern rows and cables, etc).
I would suggest making 2 buttons for each counter. One with a plus sign and onw with a minus sign.
We like to watch tv as a family and so I usually have the sound turned off on my touch. So occasionally I miss that it subtracted a row instead of adding.
Please fix this.
Thank you |

KnitMinder - all icons unresponsive |
I have KnitMinder 1.4.3 installed on my itouch (version 2.2.1). When KnitMinder is launched the app screen is opened but the icons (Project etc) at bottom of the screen are grey and unresponsive. No plus icon is displayed at top of screen. After around 20 secs the app closes.
I also have KnitMinder lite installed and the same occurs when this app is launched.
I have deleted these apps from the itouch and reinstalled - the same occurs |

It sounds like you are using KnitMinder Lite, the free version of the app that limits the number of projects, yarns, needles, and patterns that you can enter. If so, this would be the correct behavior for the lite version. |

Hi! Please add my support to existing requests to be able to store more info on yarn and patterns. I bought knitminder so I wouldn't need endless shopping lists of yarn and needles I might need - however if I can't store that info for a pattern - or record the recommended needles & length & weight for a yarn, then it doesn't help me! - I'm rather disappointed now (oh and not giving uk needle sizes is really frustrating too...) |

calculate increases and decreases |
I am not a big user of knitting apps as of yet because I am a lover of free apps and haven’t yet found one which can do the one thing which I really think I could find good use for: Calculating the number of stitches between increases and decreases for me.
Are there any of the knitting apps, paid or free, that incorporate this?
I have tried looking at the knitting apps I could find in the App Store but I’ve not yet found any which mention this feature.
Are there really no apps which incorporate this feature?? Then consider this a request. :o)
What I mean is calculating increases and calculating decreases.

add a way to track knitting looms |
Now, for my suggestion and I'm surprised that it's not here! With the evergrowing popularity of the knitting looms, like Knifty Knitter, I'm surprised to see you don't have a spot to mark which looms one owns! That would be a great addition I'd like to see as I have the Knifty Knitters, both long and round, but I'd also like to keep track if I need a different one for a differe project, perhaps add the Knifty Knitter or just looms in general and someway to keep track of which one someone has! |

To delete an item from a list, like the Projects, Yarns, or Needles list screens, swipe your finger across the item from left to right. A red Delete button will appear on the right of the item. Touch that button to permanently delete the item.
While this is covered in the documentation, I still get questions on how to delete items, so there needs to be a more obvious way to delete in the program. Maybe a large red delete button at the bottom of the item detail screen like the Contacts program has? |

Clytie writes in the forums:
I am also a bit daunted by the task of typing in all my similar yarns and needles. Would it be viable to Duplicate an item, so the user could just change the colour details for the yarn, or the size for the needles? I have a lot of the same kinds of yarn (e.g. 12 different colours of Heirloom 8-ply EasyCare), and the same kind of needles (e.g. 15 sizes of bamboo double-pointed needles of the same length), and it would help quite a bit to be able to duplicate entries and then edit the few changed details. Then buying another batch of Patonyle or Purla would simply mean duplicating a similar entry and changing the colour and dyelot. Most details would be the same, often even where you buy the yarn. Duplicating would also be useful for patterns, e.g. when you make the same pattern for different people, with yarn of a different colour (beanies, socks and mittens are frequent fliers in my craft bag). |

problem after entering patter info |
after entering info, pressing the 'patterns' button does not return one to the pattern list...it stays on the pattern edit screen. |
|
i've only got 3 patterns entered and this has happened with 2 of the 3 (once when entering a new pattern and once when editing a previously entered pattern). quiting the app seems to be the only way to deal with it and any edits done to the pattern info during that session are lost. |

add lace weight to yarns |
While we're on the subject of yarn weights, it would be great if you would add "lace" to the top of the list as it is generally considered the finest weight and is very popular. |

It seems there isn't a clear consensus on yarn categories, when I took a look at the reference you used I see it has "fingering" as a description in both the O/Lace and 1/Super Fine categories along with "Sock" and then there's "Baby" in 2 categories as well -- Ah well, I guess it keeps knitting interesting for old hands and confusing for beginners and keeps all of us in between on our toes! You probably should ask for a vote but I wouldn't mind seeing what you suggested, displaying the standard & conventional yarn weight designations side-by-side which would help me, at the very least, learn the equivalents. |

suggest yarn substitutions |
I love this app. Maybe you know of this but it would be really neat if there was a way to figure yarn substitions. Ex. If you can't find the yarn suggested in a pattern, that we cam type in suggested yarn and it can give us another yarn that would fit based on weight or fibers or cost (more affordable) . Is there something like that out there ? I am a fairly new knitter and it would be most helpful.

Could the colours list please include a tick-box for "multicoloured" or just "multi"? There are some lovely multi yarns on the market (e.g. the self-fairisle sock yarns), and I'll get muddled if I can't note down that the yarn isn't just "blue" but in fact is a melange of blues from powder blue to navy. A tick-box would allow us to choose the main colour, then optionally tick the box if the yarn is multi, and not require extra colours-list items. |

KnitMinder Lite, the free version of the program, works exactly the same as the paid version but has limits on the number of items you can enter into each section. In the lite version, you are limited to two projects at a time. A full list of limits can be found in the FAQ:
http://www.quilt2go.com/faq#11n59 [^]
The purpose of the lite version is to give you a chance to try out KnitMinder for free before purchasing the full version. |

I didn't see how to do it in the instructions. I know this feature might only be used once in awhile by most, but it's something I'd like to see. I'm currently playing with the lite version of Knit Minder. I like it very much but was wondering if there is anyway to link counters in a project.
For example, I have to do a 10 row pattern for seven repeats.
It would be really cool that if I click 'pattern row' on row 10 that it automatically goes back to row 1 and AT THE SAME TIME increase the 'pattern repeat' counter by one |

track pattern instructions in row counter |
what I wanted but I am having trouble figuring out how to use it. I am currently working on a pattern which has a twenty five row repeat. I would like to be able to put in the instructions for all twenty five rows and be able to go to the next row as I finish the previous row. The instructions are
Row one
K2 *K3 P3 * K2
Row 2
K2 P1 *K3 P3* K3 P2 K2
Row 3
K4 *P3 K3* P3 K3

I have to say that I love your product. I've only used it a little bit. And I have to say, there is one thing that I'm looking for in an app that noone seems to have...
I have an hour train ride every morning and every night from work and I find it very annoying to have to carry my patterns along with me and remember which row I'm currently working on. I'd love a way to record my pattern into my ipod and then when I increase a row in the app have it display the pattern of the row I'm on. It helps that I can display the pattern row so I can easily find it if I loose my place, but having a quick view of what I'm doing would be great. |

I would like to be able to sort the yarns by Brand also. I have some favorite yarn companies (Habu for example) and really need to keep track of what I have in their yarns since I have a lot and would like to not duplicate (it's a disease, I swear). |

add glass and bamboo needle materials, combo needle types |
A few more additions? I have both glass and bamboo needles. Although bamboo might seem like wood, they are actually quite different than something like birch. The glass needles are interesting and very lovely.
And I have several needles called "Combo." These are circular with a knitting needle on one end and a crochet hook on the other. |

set up counters to loop |
Oh, and of course I have a feature request (who doesn’t ;o): suppose you have a pattern repeat of 8 rows. I think it would be very handy if you could use a row counter that starts at 1, counts up till 8, and automatically resets to 1 again at the next click. In other words, I would like to be able to set a max value for the row counter. And it would be really cool if you could link this to a pattern repeat counter that automatically goes up one whenever the row counter max is reached.
The principle could probably also be used for increase/decrease rows and repeats. |

add Jott as an import source |
Today I figured out that if I Jott myself, I can add that to the logbook by copy and paste. Not as easy as just holding the iPhone up to my forehead and thinking hard, but a little more effective. I must have fatter fingertips than the designers considered, because I cannot type well at all. Too used to a keyboard.
So, could you link the Jott api directly to the logbook?
That would be really nifty. |

Undo a count without resetting counter |
On stitchminder, would it be possible to release an update that allows you to undo a count without resetting the whole thing? Example: I accidentally hit the button twice to go from 1 to 3, and I want it to go back to 2. Maybe something as simple as a generic "undo" button that just un-does whatever the last action was. |

Cannot set 3 digit start for counter |

Here's the steps that I used to reproduce this problem; please comment if this is not what you are reporting:
1. Create a new counter in a project.
2. Touch the "Starting Count" field and type in a large number. I used 500.
3. Hit the "Done" button.
4. Change "Ascending" to off.
5. Hit the "Project" button in the upper left of the screen to return to the list of counters for the project.
Result: the counter still reads 0 in the counter list.
The workaround for this problem right now is to hit the Edit button again and press the Reset Counter button. This will set the counter to the starting value (in my case, 500). |

Ah, I think I've got it. Did you start from the Help section in KnitMinder and touch the Quilt2Go link? When you do that, the program opens the www.quilt2go.com web site, and one of the links at the top of that site is "Issue Tracker", which is what you are reading now. I will change that particular link so it exits KnitMinder and opens Mobile Safari, the built-in web browser, which should make it easier to report and edit issues on the Quilt2Go web site. Alternatively, you can go to www.quilt2go.com on your computer and enter bugs there. Thanks again for reporting this issue! |

Keyboard for entering colors |
It's npot possible to list a of colors |
|
|
|
|
paul |
2009-04-25 12:53 |
The intent in this version of KnitMinder is that each yarn has a primary color indicated by the "color" field. You can expand on color information using the "colorway" field. A single color makes it possible to sort and display all of your yarns by color, but it makes it more difficult to accurately describe variegated yarns or yarns that have more than one main color. I'll try to come up with a better way to describe color for a future release. If anyone has any suggestions, please add them to this issue! |

In the project list and edit project screens, the picture of the project is the most-recent picture taken in that project's logbook. The idea is that you always see the current state of your project in the project list. |

Integrate with Ravelry |
I also noticed that you have an app called KnitMinder under development. This sounds like an exciting app! My main suggestion would be to explore ways to integrate your app with ravelry. I already manage my stash and projects there - what I really need is a better mobile tool to help get that info into ravelry and retrieve it when I'm on the go. I could actually use a stash management app for my fabric (just sewing, not quilting) supplies more than for knitting stuff. |

Make counter names bigger and move buttons away from counter |
Sometime, on a future update, if possible, make the letters bigger re "Rows Completed" etc. and, if possible, move the Edit and Reset away from the indicator numbers. I have a Big thumb, AND it would be easier for me to aim for the right side of the iphone, rather than a middle location, to increase a number, without having to worry about hitting either the edit or reset button. |

Buttons on left or right |
I think it would be helpful to have the counters as an option for either the left or the right. I noticed when I took my iphone out of its dock and charger that I held it in my left hand and my thumb's natural position to click the counter is at the right. Honestly, I haven't yet used your counter while knitting (too busy with my iphone), but I suspect I would reach to hold or touch the iphone with whatever hand isn't holding the knitting. If my right hand is free, I suspect I would want the counters on the left side of the screen. |

default yarn photo is distracting |
'd also rather not see the default yarn picture when I don't add my own
photo. Maybe it would be possible to use a blank placeholder for the photos? |

Finally, how about some choices of default images other than the gray spool? |

background image on counter screen is out of place |
I really like the clean look of KnitMinder, and therefore the background
picture in the counter screen seems a bit out of place to me. I would very
much prefer the same background that is used in all other screens. |

link project to multiple patterns |
I use and modify a lot of online patterns. It would be great to be able to link to several online patterns from the patterns list. For example, I recently made a skirt using the waistband from one pattern, the skirt body from another, and a ruffle from a third. I'd love to be able to link to all 3, rather than typing in each part.
May want to combine with bug 37 so patterns are displayed in the same way as yarns and needles. |

removing a photo from the only logbook entry does not remove it from the project |
To reproduce:
1. create a new project.
2. add a logbook entry with a photo
3. remove the photo from the logbook entry
results: photo not removed from project |
