Hey,

I just downloaded Knitminder a week or so ago, and ever since I uploaded the update the other day, it no longer works. Any ideas?

Thanks!

Help!

I'm also having problems with this app. It was working fine for a couple of weeks, but now when I try to open it, it looks like it is going to open, then it shuts down. I'm running it on my 2G iPod touch, and my desktop is a PC with Windows XP. I tried accessing the crash log, but only got as far as the UserData. There were 4 folders, only one of which (0NKBE1Y5) contained any data. I really don't know much about computers these days (10 years ago I could hold my own), so I'm not really sure where to go from here. Help!

Re: Help!

There is an issue with running KnitMinder on iPod touch devices that have the older, 2.1.x version of the iPod operating system. I've contacted Apple about the bug, and while they acknowledge that the crash is caused by an issue in the OS, they haven't given me any workarounds. At this time, the only known solution is to upgrade your iPod OS to 3.0 or later.

If you are encountering this problem and have any questions about upgrading, please use the contact form on this site to email me directly so I can help.

OS 2.2.1 issue

Rachelle discovered an issue with devices on OS 2.2.1 that prevents them from launching KnitMinder. I'll have a fix for this bug in the next release.

update problems

Hi Rachelle -

I'm sorry that you've having problems with KnitMinder. When you say that it no longer works, do you mean that you are not able to launch the application at all, or are you experiencing problems after the application is started? If you are able to launch the app, it would help if you could send me a copy of your database. Once KnitMinder is running, touch the Help button at the lower right, then the About button at the upper left, then touch the Email Support button in the dialog that appears. A mail composer screen will pop up with the proper email address and your database already attached.

If you aren't able to launch the app at all, chances are that it is crashing at some point in the startup process. When an application crashes on the iPhone or iPod touch, the device stores a file describing what was going on during the crash that can help identify the underlying problem. Those crash log files are transferred to your computer when you sync your device. I have written up some instructions here which describe how to locate those crash logs and send them to me for analysis.

Again, I apologize for the difficulties, and hope to hear from you via email soon!

Update problem

Hi Paul,
I have exactly the same problem as Rachelle. After I downloaded the latest update the program will not even open. After I tap the icon the program starts to open then just shuts off. I have had knitminder for several weeks and had loaded in all my needle data, yarns and several projects. Now it looks like all my data is gone. I am not home with my computer so I can not send you any date files until Sunday when I get back. Can you help me please?
Thank you,
Joan

thanks Paul,

It opens then shuts immediately. I tried uninstalling it and re-installing it but no luck. I am sending the log now.
