For the first time in my knitting/crochetting life I have all my projects, yarns, and needles organized. Now, I fear losing all of my good work. Is there anyway to back-up the info inputted into knitminder?

Sorry it took me so long to answer your question! All of the information that you've entered into KnitMinder is automatically backed up by iTunes when you sync your iPhone or iPod touch to your computer. If anything happens to your device, you can restore that backup to a new device (or the old device with a reinstalled OS) as part of the setup procedure.

I know that a lot of knitters like you have put significant amounts of time into organizing their yarn stash, needles, and projects, so I am working on a secondary backup system where your information would be uploaded to an internet server for safekeeping. This probably won't be ready for a couple of months as it is a fairly complex feature. I'm also considering ways you can get the data out of KnitMinder for other uses. One of the features I'm also working on would allow you to send your project logbook entries as an email message. This could be used to update a blog, for example. If you have any other suggestions for ways that you'd like to re-use the data in KnitMinder, please let me know!

Data 'backup' on the desktop computer?

Is there a possibility that you will develop a desktop app that can sync with the iphone app? I now have Needle Trax and as far as I can see, they aren't offering or supporting it anymore...

I've considered doing a desktop app that syncs with KnitMinder, but the main impediment is that I would have to write separate versions for the Mac and Windows. I think a web-based application will be the way to go. I'm working now on a feature that will allow you to back up your KnitMinder database to an internet server and restore it to your phone, but if there's a backup on a server, it would be a big step towards being able to view and edit your data online. I'd love to be able to sync to Ravelry, but that isn't technically possible yet. I'll keep you posted!
